Bible Art Ministries. The Bible is like no other book. Because it is the greatest story ever told. The Bible claims to be “God-breathed” or God-inspired. Michaelangelo, Reubens, Rembrandt, and most of the great artists through history have lovingly illustrated the Bible in great paintings.

It has been said that a picture is worth 10,000 words. A Biblical illustrator or artist’s purpose is to arrest your attention and point you to the book of books, to help you visualize the word and remember the great truths.

Art from the Bible is the title of a 45 minute presentation designed for public schools. It features the showing and explaining of a series of large colorful dramatic original fine art paintings blending the technical, geographic, historical background of each painting in a unique and educational manner.

A Canadian public school principal stated, “What my students saw and heard today in this presentation of Art from the Bible will be indelibly recorded on their hearts and in their minds for a lifetime.

Another public school principle said “I have never in my life before seen and heard so much good information given in 45 minutes.”

Our simplified art techniques demonstrated are designed to help students realize that if you have the “want to” you can learn the “how to” in art or any other profession.

It was while working for Gospel Light publications in California in 1962 that Stan Crookall, who became BAM’s founder and president, saw Jan Styka’s masterpiece, The Crucifiction, at Forest Lawn.

Stan was 40 years old, he had been an amateur artist since childhood, but he caught a vision that day and saw how fine art could be used to tell the story of God’s redeeming grace. As he stood viewing the enormous 190x45 foot painting, he bowed his head and prayed, “Lord, whatever talent you have given to me, I give it back to you and ask you to multiply and use it so that I may learn to paint art from the Bible and tell the greatest story ever told.”

Immediately, on return to Canada, he enrolled in evening art classes at the Ontario College of Art and the Famous Artist correspondence course in illustration. He also attended summer courses at the Ontario College of Education and obtained a teaching certificate.

As he better learned the craft of art, he found no immediate open door to special service with Biblical illustration. So he became an art teacher, at a correctional school for teenage boys at Bowmanville Ontario.

Then in 1976 the divine call to take art from the bible to public schools brought bout a great adventure in drawing souls to Christ, and an outreach to school students and prisoners around the world.

The beginning one man ministry grew as others joined to help in the work and spread across Canada, the USA, Jamaica, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina.

Now multiplied thousands of schools and prisons have been reached with this message of redeeming grace. Eternity alone will show what God has done in the transformed lives of many who have believed and received Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
