Forgiveness. At a presentation to a grade seven class, I was talking about repentance, when one student stood up and said: “I want to ask forgiveness from the student from Venezuela. I always treat him badly and say things against him because he is a foreigner in our country.”
I was using Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
The student went to the seat of the Venezuelan student, asked for forgiveness, and they exchanged a hug. The other students, who had been in a stunned silence, broke out in applause.
The Venezuelan student accepted the apology and said: “I am a Venezuelan and we live in Colombia because every day my country is going backwards. President Chavez left a divided country. He gave riches to the rich people and to those who supported him.” The two of them are in the picture, the Colombian student is on the left.
